The Taranis N variety was developed by INRAE as part of its ResDur3 breeding program. It possesses polygenic resistance, comprising four factors conferring resistance to downy mildew and three factors conferring resistance to powdery mildew. It does not carry any known resistance factors against black rot. Taranis N has medium to high yield potential with large, compact clusters. The variety has moderate fertility. The red wines produced are high-quality, structured, and fruity, with robust tannins and high color intensity.
