The Vidoc N variety was selected by INRAE through its ResDur1 program. The variety has polygenic resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew as well as good tolerance to gray rot; however, it is sensitive to black rot. It is a vigorous, fertile variety with a particularly drooping growth habit, requiring very careful trellising. Wines produced from this variety have enological qualities favorable to aging: they are powerful, intensely colored, complex, and have pronounced acidity. The aromas focus on fruit and spices.
