The Solaris B variety was selected by the Freiburg Research Institute in Germany (WBI, Staatliches Weinbauinstitut Freiburg). The variety has very strong vigor with an early bud break (a few days before Pinot Noir) and an equally early maturity (two weeks before Müller-Thurgau). Wines produced from Solaris B are less full-bodied, more floral, and sweeter than those from Chardonnay. They are also less aromatic, more acidic, and more vegetal compared to wines made from Sauvignon Blanc.
