The Sirano N variety was obtained by INRAE as part of its ResDur2 breeding program. Sirano N has polygenic resistance to fungal diseases: it has high resistance to downy mildew, total resistance to powdery mildew, and partial resistance to black rot. However, preventive treatments are necessary to limit its susceptibility to botrytis due to the notable compactness of its clusters. Sirano N has strong vigor, shoots with a fairly upright habit, and a high production potential thanks to its large clusters composed of medium-sized berries. The wines produced from this variety are spicy, fresh, and full-bodied with fine tannins and high color intensity.
