The Luminan B variety was co-developed by INRAE and the BNIC (National Interprofessional Bureau of Cognac). Its fungal disease resistance is described as follows: total resistance to powdery mildew and very good resistance to downy mildew. It is a vigorous variety with a very high yield (equal to or greater than Ugni blanc) and phenology (bud break and maturity) earlier than Ugni blanc. The distillation wines produced from this variety are currently under study.
