The Bronner B variety was developed by the Freiburg Research Institute in Germany (WBI, Staatliches Weinbauinstitut Freiburg). It is an early variety that buds before Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. However, its ripening period is average, similar to Gamay in Switzerland. Compared to Chardonnay, wines from Bronner B are less rich and round but are more acidic and aromatic.
